ERATH - -The North Vermilion Patriots beat Erath 59-40 on the road Tuesday night.
North Vermilion jumped out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
In the first quarter, Parker McNees had the hot hand for NV. He nailed three 3-pointers and two 2-pointers for a total of 13 points. He finished the game with 13 points.
At half time, the Patriots had a convincing 36-12 lead.
Erath was able to score 27 points in the second half but never got too close to taking the lead.
The Patriots made 10 3-pointers.

Moy is Abbeville High's new head football coach

Abbeville High School has a new head football coach.
Abbeville High Principal Dr. Janet Guerrini has selected Gueydan head football coach Roderick Moy. She informed him on Wednesday.
He was excited when he received the phone call.
“Extremely excited for the opportunity to move my career forward,” said Moy.
Dr. Guerrini said she was impressed with the seven applicants, and she went with Moy because of his coaching experience and the fact that he is already in the parish.

Interviews begin Monday for Abbeville High's new head football coach

The interview process is underway for the new head football coach for Abbeville High School.
The interviews began Monday and will conclude on Tuesday.
Seven people are applying for the position.
Abbeville Principal Dr. Janet Guerrino and assistant principal Phillip Freeman, along with other Abbeville High teaching staff, began interviews for the head football coaching job on Monday.
The committee is expected to interview four on Monday and three Tuesday.
A new head coach is expected to be named later this month.

Fouquier resigns as VC head football coach

Vermilion Catholic is now in need of a new head football coach.
On Monday, VC head coach Kevin Fouquier resigned as the head football coach.
Fouquier decided to go back into the private work force.
Fouquier had been the head coach for two years. He has a two year record of 21-4, including a district title this year. His teams have reached at least the second round of the Division IV playoffs each year.The search will begin soon for a new head coach.

Back-to-back champs: North Vermilion wins another LHSAA title

The North Vermilion High Dance team competed at the LHSAA Spirit Championship in the Game Day category and won the state title for a second year making them back to back champions of Division II.
In the Game Day category teams must demonstrate 3 components; a Fight Song routine, a Sideline routine, and a Field Performance routine.
One judge noted, “Patriots understand how to perform for their fans!,” which sums up exactly what the team aims to do!
