Krewe de la Renaissance Acadienne holds annual ball

The Krewe de la Renaissance Acadienne held its 13th annual ball at seven-thirty in the evening on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Lafayette.
The theme of the ball was “What Da Funk?”
Reigning over the festivities were Krewe de la Renaissance Acadienne’s King XIII, Jacob Landry, and Queen XIII, Hannah Landry.
King Jacob and Queen Hannah have been married for 14 years and are the proud parents of 11-year old Jack and 8-year old Jules.

Theriot named ‘Student of the Year’

North Vermilion Middle School is proud to announce that Carson Theriot has been named the 2019 Student of the Year.
Carson is very active on campus. He currently serves as president of the NVMS Be the Good club, Student Council representative, 4-H treasurer, and Jr. Beta Chaplin.
In addition to the offices he holds, he’s a member of the North Vermilion Middle School band and the soccer and cross country teams.

Latanier Cookers to host first gathering of the new year

The first Dutch Oven Gathering (D.O.G.)of 2019 will be held on Saturday, January 12 at Palmetto State Park.
Learning how to cook on coals would be a great accomplishment for 2019.
Latanier Cookers can help you do it. Get out the Dutch Oven you got for Christmas or your grandma’s old pot.
Latanier Cookers….Pronounced ‘lah ton ya’ is the French word for Palmetto. This group organized in April of 2013 and hosted their first D.O. G. at Palmetto Island State Park.

Abbeville Garden Club hosts Christmas social

Members of the Abbeville Garden Club gathered on December 17, 2018 for their annual Christmas Social, celebrating the holiday season at the lovely home of AGC member, Karen Hoyt.  Members enjoyed a delightful evening of entertainment, a wonderful meal, and participated in a lively gift exchange in a beautifully decorated atmosphere.  
AGC members also participated in the “Spirit of Giving” by collecting donations for an adopted family through Faith House. The generous donation was delivered by AGC President Sandy Richard.
