Erath's Gisclair throws perfect game

ERATH - Lexie Gisclair threw a gem on Monday to lead the Erath Lady Bobcats past Gueydan 12-0 with the rarest of softball moments: The Perfect Game.
She struck out eight and did not allow any Gueydan batter on base.
The Lady Cats secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the second inning. EHS’ big inning was driven by singles by Amber Theriot and Cami Romero, an error on a ball put in play by Aubrey Desormeaux and Rylee Vincent, doubles by Gisclair and Carrington Neveaux and by Desormeaux.

North Vermilion Patriots blows out Winnfield

The North Vermilion Patriots defeated Winnfield 13-1 on Saturday thanks to seven runs in a big third inning.
The win improves NV to 3-0 on the year. They played Loreauville on Monday.
Tanner Trahan, Lane Patin, Hayden Durke, John Touchet, and Dylan Naquin each had RBIs in the third frame.
In the first inning, the Patriots got their offense started when Durke homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Hebert has five-hit day for Kaplan Lady Pirates

Kailie Hebert had a busy day at the plate on Saturday, smacking five hits in the Kaplan Lady Pirates’ 10-1 victory over Highland.
Hebert singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, singled in the fifth and singled in the sixth.
Kaplan opened up scoring in the first inning. Jayden Baudoin drove in two when she singled.
Kaplan scored five runs in the fifth inning. Kaplan’s big bats were led by Lanie Labry, Carina Chargois, and Baudoin, who all drove in runs.

Broc Prejean, shown standing with a STM athlete, is now the new football coach at VC.

VC hires alum as new football coach

Most high school athletes and coaches only dream about what it is feels like to win a state title. Abbeville resident Broc Prejean can tell you first hand because he has been a part of five, either as a player or an assistant coach.
On Monday, VC announced to their alumni that they had selected Prejean as the school’s new head football coach.
Prejean is a 2006 VC graduate. In 2003 he was a member of the 2003 football team that won the Class 1A state title after beating Kentwood.

Abbeville High hosting two-day Regional powerlifting competition

The Abbeville High gymnasium will be busy Friday and Saturday with the 2020 LHSPLA West Regional Power Lifting Meet.
For the first time, the high school will be hosting the two-day event.
The girls will begin lifting Friday at 10 a.m., and it will go until around 5 p.m., and around 100 girls are lifting.
Saturday morning will be busy with more than 200 male powerlifters. That meet will go until around 7 p.m.
