Krewe de la Renaissance theme was ‘Festival Palooza’

The Krewe de la Renaissance Acadienne held their annual Mardi Gras ball this past Saturday at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel and Ballroom in Lafayette.
The evening’s theme was Festival Palooza.
Reigning over the events this year is King XV Matthew Joseph Hebert and Queen XV Michelle Hargroder Simon.

UL Lafayette’s College of Engineering has launched a smart oilfield concentration for petroleum engineering majors. The program, the only of its kind in the nation, is among nine new concentrations the concentration has established in the last two years.

SLCC Recognized by Global Advancement Association

LAFAYETTE – On June 22, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) announced its 2022 Circle of Excellence Awards winners across the globe, which included Acadiana’s own South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).
The college - one of only seven award winners selected in their category and the only community college - was honored with a Gold award for its most recent employee giving campaign, where faculty and staff were asked to invest back into the institution to support philanthropic initiatives including student scholarships, emergency fund programs, and more.

United Way of Acadiana announces grants cycle for Lafayette Parish public school educators, schools

LAFAYETTE – United Way of Acadiana has announced its first grants cycle targeting educators and schools in Lafayette Parish public schools.
The funding for the grants was made possible by the merger with Lafayette Education Foundation (LEF) in 2021.
In the merger agreement, United Way of Acadiana assumed the responsibilities of the LEF endowment, investing the earnings in educational programming for the benefit of Lafayette Parish students. The funds will be overseen by an advisory committee made up of five former LEF board members for at least five years.
