The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles overcame a late start to the season, slippery field conditions, and a four-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to score a 24-23 victory over the St. Martinville Lady Tigers Tuesday at Comeaux Park.
The win was the third of the season for VC against only one loss. Most teams have already played 10-15 games. Lady Eagles’ co-head coach Kim Guidry explained that being a 1A school with girls playing multiple sports, they had to wait until basketball season ended to have enough players to field a team.

ERATH - The Erath Bobcats had an easy time with Lafayette Christian Academy Knights on Tuesday.
Erath blanked LCA 8-0.
Pitcher Lynkon Romero pitched the Bobcats to a victory.
He only gave up three hits and did not give up an earned run in seven innings of work.
Erath (7-3) had 12 hits.
With two hits were Dominic Frederick, Seth Leger, Ashston Alleman and Romero.
Lead-off hitter Landson Derouen went 1-for-3, and he knocked in three runs
EHS had three doubles hit by Braxton Richard, Derouen and Dominic Frederick.

KAPLAN - The Kaplan Lady Pirates climbed to No. 3 in the Division III power rankings after going 2-0 this weekend and picking up win number nine.
Over the weekend, Kaplan beat Cecilia 16-1 and St. Charles 3-2.
Against St. Charles, it was a scoreless game until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Pirates scored one run.
Lexi Greene, who had three hits, ripped a double in the fourth inning that scored a run to make it 1-0.
St. Louis jumped ahead 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning.
