St. Mary’s wants to slow down Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles

It is playoff time, and that means only one thing for the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles - time to put it in another gear and go.
The Lady Eagles kicked into another gear Monday night and scored 71 points in a second-round win over University Academy of Central Louisiana.
Thursday night at home, the Lady Eagles play St. Mary’s (18-10), a team from the same district as University Academy.
Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. at VC.
The winner of tonight’s game advances to the Final Four of the LHSAA playoffs.

Erath gets dramatic win in five-kick shootout.

Erath Lady Bobcats reach third round of playoffs

The Erath Lady Bobcats made school and parish history Wednesday after beating North Desoto 2-1 in the second round of the Division III soccer playoffs.
No parish girls’ high school soccer team has advanced to the third round of the playoffs.
The Lady Bobcats will play No. 1 ranked Vandebilt Catholic in Erath on Monday.
The match will get underway at 6 p.m. at EHS.
Vandy is coming off an 8-0 win over St. Michael the Archangel in the second round.

Abbeville Wildcats get needed road victory

LAFAYETTE — The Abbeville Wildcats took care of business on the road by beating the David Thibodaux Bulldogs 64-56 in District 8-3A action.
Heading into the game, the Wildcats, Patterson and David Thibodaux were all in a three-way tie for first place at 5-1.
With the win, Abbeville hangs on to the district lead at 6-1 and 18-6 overall.
Abbeville had three players score in double digits.

North Vermilion Lady Patriots move step closer to district title

KAPLAN - North Vermilion head coach Casey Meador did not want to say that the Lady Patriots just won the District 8-3A title after beating Kaplan 44-39 on Friday.
The Lady Patriots improved to 8-0 in the district with three district games remaining. The KHS Lady Pirates dropped to 7-2 in district and 18-11 overall.
“We are in the driver’s seat, but, I don’t want to become too complaisant by talking about being district champions. We can slip up.”
NV has Erath, Abbeville, and Patterson remaining on its schedule.

North Vermilion's new point guard finds new home

Jace Myers, 15, looks to have found a home at North Vermilion High School.
Myers, a sophomore, is North Vermilion’s new point guard.
However, what many people do not know about Myers is that she has not always lived in the Maurice area. Nope. Her family is well traveled, and it was not uncommon for Myers to be at a school for one or two years and then move.
