The city of Abbeville has announced a boil advisory that will be effective 7 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.
The boil advisory is due to the replacement of a fire hydrant.
The affected areas include:
• Coulee Kinney to Hwy 14 (Bypass)
• Bruno Street
• Carolyn Street
• Assay Street
During this advisory, it is recommended that all water used for drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene be boiled for at least one minute.
Residents will notified promptly once the advisory has been lifted.

A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent cited three subjects for alleged oyster violations on Aug. 4 in Vermilion Parish.
Sgt. Justin Sonnier cited Jose Ayala, 53, of Dickenson, Texas, Manuel Ayala, 63, of San Leon, Texas, and Adrian Ayala, 29, of Dickinson, Texas, for unlawfully taking oysters from a private lease. Jose Ayala was also cited for failing to have written permission to remove oysters from a private lease and harvesting oysters from an unmarked lease.

The Vermilion Parish School System is improving safety measures by adding more resource officers on campuses and implementing an additional security layer to deter unauthorized individuals from gaining easy access to the school.
For the last month, Vermilion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, school district safety officer Brooks David, Superintendent Tommy Byler, and other parish police chiefs have held safety meetings to discuss ways to make schools safer.
