A Tony Mayard painting of “Bichon” and Olga Toups is currently on display at the Abbeville Cultural and Alliance Center. It is part of an exhibit commemorating the 40th Annual Giant Omelette Celebration. The event will take place in Abbeville on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3.
Local culture stirs Abbeville's Giant Omelette
At a glance, the Giant Omelette Celebration is about the eggs.
However, the event is about so much more once you crack the shell.
“Our festival is about our Cajun culture and our French culture,” said Arlene Collee, a member of the Confrerie d’ Abbeville, the organization that conducts the event.
This year marks a milestone in that effort. The 40th Annual Giant Omelette Celebration will be held in downtown Abbeville on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3
“We’re excited,” Collee said while speaking to the Kiwanis Club of Abbeville on Tuesday.
