There is a big change coming to Abbeville High, but don’t expect it to lead to too many changes around the school.
Vermilion Parish Superintendent Jerome Puyau has announced that Lyndelle Theriot has been named the principal at Abbeville High School.
She is the school’s first female principal.
Theriot has spent the last five years as an assistant principal at the school. She will take over for Ivy Landry, who is stepping down after six years to pursue other options. Landry is expected to take another position at the school.
“I am really excited,” Theriot said.

By the time seniors graduate high school, few know what they want to do in life after high school. They all look for a sign that will guide them in the right direction.
Erath High graduate Faith Boudreaux got that sign her senior year.
Boudreaux recently won this year’s “What I Want to Be and Why” essay contest put on by the Abbeville Rotary Club. She wrote about how she wanted to be a speech therapist.

School buses in Vermilion parish today are state of the art vehicles equipped with cushioned seats, air conditioning and speakers for the radio and PA system, not to mention modern technology like GPS, video cameras and safety features. In addition, Vermilion Parish roads are paved and well-maintained. Riding the bus morning and afternoon is almost like riding in the comfort of the family vehicle for school kids.
