VC Eagles escape with two point win over Centerville
The Vermilion Catholic Eagles continue to find a way to get it done.
The Eagles beat Centerville 45-43 on Tuesday at home.
The win improves VC to 15-7 overall.
Before the game, the Eagles let 16 seconds run off the clock in the honor of Kalix Broussard, a former VC player who was killed in an auto accident on Monday.
The Eagles were down most of the game, and they got their first and only lead at the end of the game.
Centerville had a chance to win the game at the end. VC fouled a Centerville player, who then went to the free-throw line. Centerville missed the front end of a one-and-one. The Bulldogs again had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but missed two buckets.
The Eagles have won eight games by two points or less.
VC, normally a good free-throw shooting team, made less than 50 percent in the game. They made 11 out of 23 free throws.
The top scorers for VC were Saul Dartez, (13), John Robert Allums (11) and Bram Hinckley (8).
The Eagles are on a six-game winning streak and travel to play Covenant Christian on the road on Friday.
