Five Vermilion Parish football teams make LHSAA playoffs
Five Vermilion Parish High School teams will still be playing football on Week 11.
Sunday morning the LHSAA announced the playoffs pairings and Vermilion Parish will be representeded.
Landing in the playoffs will be Vermiloion Catholic (9-1), Kaplan (6-4), Erath (5-5), North Vermilion (5-5) and Gueydan (5-5).
Three out of the five teams will be playing at home and the othet two are on the road.
VC got the number 1 power ranking will entertain Ascension Catholic (3-7), who is at No. 16. If VC wins, the Eagles will play the winner of the No. 9 Central Catholic/No. 8 Metairie Park Country Day.
In Class 3A, the Kaplan Pirates get to play host to their fourth straight first round home playoff game.
Bossier finished the regular season with a 7-3 record. They began the year 5-0 but lost three of their final five games.
The game will be in Ed Douglas Memorial Stadium in Kaplan with kick off at 7 p.m.
The winner of the Kaplan game will play the winner of No. 2 Sterlington/No. 31 Crowley game.
The Erath Bobcats will travel two hours north on La. 49 to play No. 8 Marksville (8-2). Marksville’s first loss of the season was against Crowley (62-38), who Erath beat in district. The winner of the Erath/Marksville game plays the No.9 Donaldsonville/No. 24 Brusly winner.
In their first year of playing Class 4A foothball, the NV Patriots made the playoffs. They are No. 25 in power rating and will travel to No. 8 Bastrop (8-2) in the first round. The winner of that game gets to meet the winner of No. 9 Eunice/ No. 24 Plaquemine winner.
The No 15 GHS Bears will entertain No. 18 Delhi (4-5) in the first round.
The winner of that game will meet No. 2 Oberlin (10-0) in Oberlin
