Abraham visits Abbeville in his campaign for governor’s race

U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham visited Abbeville on Tuesday in his campaign for governor.
He visited Abbeville and walked through the Vermilion Parish Courthouse.
He is one of two Republicans who said they are willing to challenge Democratic incumbent Gov. John Bel Edwards in the October election.
Abraham is a U.S. representative from northeastern Louisiana. He is on his third term as a United States representative.
He threw his name into the hat because he did not like the direction Louisiana is headed.

Abbeville Police asking for assistance in locating juvenile who ran away from home

The Abbeville Police Department is asking for any assistance in locating a female runaway juvenile.
According to the Abbeville Police Department, the juvenile has habitually runaway from home, and her family is desperately attempting to locate her.
The juvenile, identified as 16-year-old Kyasiah Nickerson of Abbeville, La., is believed to possibly be in the Baton Rouge area.
The juvenile has been entered into the N.C.I.C. database as an endangered runaway.

Sheriff Couvillon among Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame ‘19 Honorees

BATON ROUGE — Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon is among the 2019 inductees to the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame.
The inductees will be honored during a ceremony on July 12.
Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections Secretary James M. Le Blanc, Louisiana State Penitentiary Warden Darrel Vannoy, and The Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum Foundation are proud to announce the following, highly- distinguished individuals, as 2019 inductees to the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame.

LSU AgCenter receives $1.4 million from Patrick F. Taylor Foundation for nutrient runoff research

BATON ROUGE — The Patrick F. Taylor Foundation has awarded a $1.4 million grant to the LSU AgCenter to fund a four-year research project on reducing nutrient runoff from crop fields.
The award was announced at a ceremony June 13 at the AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden in Baton Rouge.
