Vermilion Parish Drive-Thru Disaster Recovery Center will reopen for Hurricanes Delta, Laura Survivors

BATON ROUGE — A drive-thru Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will reopen in Vermilion parish on Oct. 22 to help Hurricane Delta and Laura survivors.
All current DRCs in Acadia, Cameron and Calcasieu parishes are open to serve both storm’s survivors. A feature of these centers is an easy and COVID-safe way for Louisianans to have documents scanned into their case file.

Robert’s love for politics

ERATH - While most nine and 10-year-old boys only cared about playing outside or playing video games, Robert Vincent developed a love for politics and the satisfaction of helping people through politics.
Vincent spent countless hours hanging around adults who enjoyed talking about politics. One adult who influenced his life was his grandfather from Morgan City. He stayed with grandfather, Robert LaBauve, during the summer months. LaBauve visited coffee shops in Morgan City, and Robert tagged along. Robert developed a passion for politics and political stories.

Early voting is taking place at the Vermilion Parish Courthouse.

Early voting in Vermilion Parish is underway

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election will begin this morning and will run through Oct. 27.
Vermilion Parish residents can cast ballots in Registrar of Voters Tina Broussard’s office, located on the first floor of the Vermilion Parish Courthouse. It will be open each day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding Sunday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 25, when the office will be closed.
Social distancing cleaning and other COVID-19 measures will be in place.
There will now be six parking spaces in front of the courthouse that will be dedicated to early voting.

Crowley Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Acadia Parish

ACADIA PARISH – At approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 15, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a two-vehicle crash on LA Highway 13, south of Wilder Road, in Acadia Parish. The crash took the life of 63-year-old Pauline Martha Faulk of Crowley.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed Faulk was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Prism when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she entered LA 13 from a private lot. Faulk’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s door in southbound travel lane by a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis.
