Vermilion elementary Principals switch schools
Trades happen in the sports world often. But principal trades do not occur very often in the Vermilion Parish school system.
One did take place between two elementary school principals Monday during a special school board meeting.
School superintendent Jerome Puyau released the names of the trade.
Dawn Amy is heading to Meaux Elementary School. In exchange, Meaux Elementary Principal Susan Stephen will be heading east to LeBlanc Elementary, located north of Erath.
Amy has been in the parish school system for 30 years. Amy is the only principal that LeBlanc Elementary has ever had. When the school was created eight years ago, Amy was named the principal and has been there since 2009.
When she arrives at Meaux, she will be only the third principal the school has had in 25 years.
Stephen has been the Meaux Elementary principal the last five years. Prior to that, she was the Vermilion Parish Curriculum Interventionist for seven years.
School superintendent Jerome Puyau explained the move.
“We wanted to align the strength of both administrators,” said Puyau. “These are two strong administrators.”
