77% of Abbeville General’s employees live in Vermilion Parish

There are 466 people who work at Abbeville General and 77 percent of them live in Vermilion Parish.
At a recent police jury meeting, Abbeville General CEO FACHE Ray Landry presented this information to the jurors. He wanted to show how important the hospital is to the parish because a majority of the people who work there, are from the parish.
“For over 50 years, this parish has produced outstanding health care workers as a result of a local, superior educational system. Stimulating the local economy is a payroll of $21.2 million with 77% of the employee group residing in the parish,” said Landry. “That percentage does not account for the many people who are independent contractors living in our community with their livelihood based at Abbeville General. Our management is composed of residents who were born, and raised here, and educated in Vermilion Parish schools. It is a pleasure for them to serve our community who are frequently family and friends.”
A majority of the people who work for the hospital live in Abbeville. There are 212 employees who live in Abbeville.
Keith Faulk, RN is the Unit Manager in Intensive Care, he has the luxury of only having to travel 1.5 miles for work.
“I have been blessed to work at Abbeville General since the beginning of my nursing career 41 years ago. Being able to take care of the Abbeville community – my friends and family – is a heart-warming experience,” Faulk said. Living only 1 ½ miles from Abbeville General is an added plus, as I am ‘Close to Home!’”
There are 47 employees who are from Kaplan and 42 who live in Erath. Maurice is next with 31 employees. Delcambre has 11 and one comes from Gueydan.
The surrounding cities also benefit from Abbeville General.
A total of 93 people, who are either from Lafayette, Scott, Carencro, Broussard and Youngsville, travel to Abbeville to work in the hospital.
There are 19 from New Iberia, and three from St. Martinville.
There is one employee who travels from Baton Rouge and another one who comes from Arnaudville.
