Sheriff's Office names person thrown from car with gunshots; juvenile arrested for alleged crime

The name of the person thrown from a car with gunshots has been identified by the Sheriff’s Office and a person of interest has been arrested for the alleged crime.
According to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer, Eddie Langlinais, during the morning hours of Monday, June 28, 2021, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a person thrown out of a vehicle off of Queen’s Ranch Road south of Abbeville.

Body with gunshots thrown out of car south of Abbeville; person dies en route to hospital

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Eddie Langlinais, during the morning hours of Monday, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a person thrown out of a vehicle in a rural area south of Abbeville.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim at this location had received multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was being transported to the hospital when the victim succumbed to his injuries prior to arrival.

Law enforcement were on scene not long after the body was located.

Maurice man's body found 1,200 feet away from car crash

MAURICE - Family and friends of 45-year-old Cleveland Duhon received word that a body had been found in a drainage canal about four football fields away from where Cleveland Duhon’s car plunged into a coulee off Etienne Street in Maurice.
They got word about 9:30 Thursday morning and it did not take them long to gather in the neighborhood of Prairie Cove Subdivision, located south of where Duhon’s car wrecked.

Lee is new assistant principal at Vermilion Catholic

Vermilion Catholic, a legacy of Mount Carmel, is excited to announce it has named Lauryn Lee as assistant principal of its Pre-K through 8th grade. Vermilion Catholic previously announced in January the acquisition and integration of Mount Carmel School of Abbeville forming the only Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade Catholic School in the lower Acadiana region.
Under the leadership of Michael Guilbeaux, principal of Vermilion Catholic, . Lee will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and comprehensive academic program of the elementary and middle school grade levels.
