VC gets its 23rd straight regular season win

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles have won 23 straight regular-season games after whipping Highland Baptist 45-0 on Friday.
Since losing to Erath High 36-34 in 2021, VC has won 23 straight regular season games. They are 23-2 overall, with their only two losses coming in the playoffs.
Since that loss at home in 2021, the Eagles (5-0) have won 12 straight homes, counting playoff wins.
On Friday, when the first quarter was over, VC led 14-0. Tyjh Williams had a 26-yard touchdown run, and Dane Richoux nailed the extra point for the 7-0 lead.

Run game powers Bobcats

ERATH — When Erath’s passing game stalled after a hot start, the Bobcats reverted to a power run game to propel them to a 35-20 win over the Vinton Lions on homecoming night at Robert J. Segura Sr. Memorial Stadium.
Behind 120 yards and two touchdowns from Blake Dautreuil, Erath ran for 204 yards, including 119 yards for the team in the second half.
Erath head coach Eric LeBlanc said the effort the Bobcats have been putting into preparation and games this year paid off with a win on Friday.

North Vermilion gets needed blowout win

LEROY - To say the North Vermilion Patriots needed a victory like the one they got Friday night may be an understatement.
The Patriots (2-3) blew out the Class 4A LaGrange Gators 42-6 in front of a packed homecoming crowd.
After playing three straight games that went back and forth until the final tick on the clock, first-year North Vermilion head coach Joe Heintz was happy to get a win like Friday night’s game.

VC moves up to No. 2

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles climbed a spot to No. 2 in the latest Class A high school football poll conducted by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
VC beat Erath 38-14 this past week to remain unbeaten at 4-0.
The Eagles are the lone Vermilion Parish football team receiving votes in the statewide poll of a panel of LSWA members.
Vermilion Catholic opens District 7-A play on Friday at home against Highland Baptist.
