Vermilion Parish Coaches talk about 2019 season at Kiwanis meeting

As the kickoff to the regular season approaches, you would be hard-pressed to find a coach who is thinking about what his football team is going to look like in November.
That’s because every coach is working hard to find out what his team is right now.
Coaches from Vermilion Parish shared some of that insight Tuesday during the traditional preseason meeting with the Kiwanis Club of Abbeville.

Andre LeBlanc wins VC’s 2019 Todd LaPorte Award

Vermilion Catholic graduate Todd LaPorte was the type of person who helped his community and school but did it behind the scene and did not let everyone know how or what he was contributing.
At the age of 53, Laporte passed away in March of 2019.
As way to keep his memory going, the LaPorte family and Vermilion Catholic family wanted to do something special.
Vermilion Catholic found a way to keep LaPorte’s legacy alive by naming a football award in his honor. Before the season begins, the head football coach will name one athlete who lives the way LaPorte did.

Improving Each Year: Abbeville volleyball team eager to build on last year’s success

When a volleyball team ends the season with a 9-14 overall record, some would argue it was a terrible year. For the Abbeville Lady Wildcats Volleyball Team, nine wins is a great season. The Lady Wildcats won nine matches last year which is twice as many wins as the year before.
With the 2019 season fast approaching, the Lady Wildcats plan to build on those wins with the help of eight seniors.
AHS Volleyball head coach Ashley Boudreaux is looking forward to this season.
