Delanie Blair Foreman Chapman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Delanie Blair Foreman Chapman, 26, who passed away on November 26, 2018 after a lengthy battle with Lupus and Pulmonary Hypertension.
Fr. Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services with Deacon Byron Soley.
Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Delanie, a resident of Maurice, was the daughter of David Foreman and Debbie Credeur Foreman. Delanie enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was duck hunting with her husband, deer hunting with her father, or mud riding, as long as she was outside she was happy. She also was an avid Disney enthusiast, and often planned vacations to Disneyworld Resorts. She would always say that her vacations to Disney was her escape from her sickness. Delanie loved animals especially her dogs, Bandit, Chevy and Tiger. Delanie's infectious smile always lit up the room where ever she went. She never met a stranger and was truly loved by all.
She is survived by her husband, Seth Chapman; parents, David and Debbie Foreman; sister, Danielle Morgan and husband Nick; in-laws, Daniel and Nikki Chapman; mother-in-law, Jessica Meaux; brother-in-law, Bruce Broussard; 4 nieces and nephews, Emily, Alley, Kenneth and Kendrick Morgan; paternal grandmother, Lucille Foreman; godchild, Jackson Faucheux; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Paul Lyn Foreman; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Viola Credeur.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 11:00AM to 9:00PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday from 8:00AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be David Foreman, Nick Morgan, Bruce Broussard, Daniel Chapman, Brock Dronet, Blake Morgan and Bryan Foreman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Delanie's name can be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, www.phassociation.org or the Lupus Foundation of America, www.lupus.org.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies graduate recent police academies

Deputy Andre Babin and Jordan Chambliss recently graduated from the Iberia Parish Corrections Training Academy and are now state certified correctional officers under the Peace Officers Standards of Training. Both Andre and Jordan will work at the Vermilion parish jail.
Deputy Erick Hanagriff and Deputy Anthony Frederick recently graduated from a 14-week police training academy held at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office to become certified under the state of Louisiana’s Peace Officer’s Standards of Training. Both Erick and Anthony must now complete a 14 week Field Officer Training Program administered by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office before they can be assigned to work in the patrol division of the VPSO.
Deputy Erick Hanagriff received the “most improved physical fitness award”.
Deputy Anthony Frederick received the “Top PT Award” for being the most physical fit amongst all of the other academy cadets.
“We are blessed to be able to continue recruiting men and women of this caliber. They have chosen a career in law enforcement and I am happy that they are part of our team, TEAM VPSO.
I am very proud of these deputies and I wish them the best as they embark on a challenging but very rewarding career,” said Sheriff Couvillon.

Laura Mae Bourque Menard

September 2, 1934 ~ November 25, 2018

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Laura Mae Bourque Menard, 84, who died Sunday, November 25, 2018.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Fr. François Sainte-Marie officiating the services.
Laura is survived by her three sons, Raymond Menard, Raywood Menard and Loicy Menard, Jr.; five daughters, Bonnie Champagne, Mary Theresa Menard, Paula Veazey, Jeanette Peterson and Mary Ann Lange; two brothers, Jeffery Bourque and Purvis Bourque; two sisters, Linda Bourque and Velma Bourque; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loicy Menard, Sr.; and parents, Louis Bourque and the former Anna Mae Bourque.

Elda Bertrand Neveaux

December 27, 1922 ~ November 23, 2018

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, 2018 for Elda Bertrand Neveaux, age 95. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Louis Richard at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Mrs. Neveaux, known better as June, died peacefully at her residence on Friday November 23, 2018. She was laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.
Mrs. Neveaux was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church where in her younger years she was an active volunteer.
Although she and her late husband, Willis Neveaux did not have children of their own, June was a mother figure to her many nieces and nephews. They could always count on a cup of coffee, a glass of Kool-Aid and a cookie or two when they visited. One hardly ever left empty handed because she and Uncle Willis always grew more in their garden than they needed. Ever kind and generous, they always planted for the whole family’s needs, not just their own.
Living a long, fulfilling life, June was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Neveaux, and her parents, Semar Bertrand and Lezeda Trahan Bertrand. She also outlived her siblings, Walter Bertrand, Sr., Hilda B. Labry, Otto Bertrand and Roy Bertrand, Sr.
She was a faith-filled, hard working woman who loved her God and her family. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and all who worked for them. The care of the nurses, bathers and spiritual volunteers was so much appreciated. The family would also like to publicly thank the many caregivers who have helped to care for her these past 6 1/2 years. May God bless you all for your kindness and compassion.

Alfred C. Villien, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Alfred C. Villien, Sr., 88, was held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:00PM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice. Mr. Villien passed away peacefully at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility in Maurice on Saturday, November 24, 2018.
Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus, was celebrant at the Mass and conducted the funeral services. Burial took place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Maurice, LA, and a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Alfred (better known as Al), was born to Joseph A. Villien, Sr. and Maude Gaidry Villien on July 22, 1930. He was the grandson of Maurice Villien, the founder of the Village of Maurice.
He is survived by his four loving children, Carl Villien, married to Cathy Villien, Carleen V. Sandoz, married to Sandy Sandoz, Gary Villien, married to Vanessa D. Villien and Alida C. Villien. He will always be loved and remembered by his seven grandchildren, Carla (Jared) Bellard, Denise (Jared) Trahan, Claire (Boyd) Hoyt, Ted (Katie) Villien, Hilary (Joey) Wynn, Chris (Diana) Sandoz and now in his loving arms, Angela C. Villien; as well as his fourteen great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Patrick, Alex, Annie, Noah, Reese, Avery, Cooper, Blake, Jackson, Thomas, Baylor, Sawyer and Beau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Audrey Duhon Villien, his nine siblings and his granddaughter, Angela Christine Villien.
Visiting hours were observed at Delhomme Funeral Home in Maurice from 9 AM until the time of service, with a Rosary prayed at 11 AM.
Pallbearers were Ted Villien, Jared Bellard, Jared Trahan, Boyd Hoyt, Joey Wynn and Todd Cole.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the administration and staff of Pelican Pointe for the care given to their dad while in residence and Grace Hospice for the care given to him in recent months.

Jeanette Trahan Labry

Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Jeanette Trahan Labry, 81, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 11 a.m until 9: p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m.. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 8 a.m, until the time of the services.
A native of New Iberia and a resident of Erath Mrs. Labry died at 2:07 PM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Jeanette was a widow, a loving mother of four, and a homemaker where she spent her time with her family. she was known for her love for traveling, camping, and country music. She also taught catechism when she was younger.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Hollier of Abbeville and Mark Hollier of Erath; two daughters, Katherine Choate and her husband Keith of Erath and Janet Viator and her husband Craig of Erath; a sister, Betty Trahan of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, John Derek Hollier and his wife Kelli and their four children, Shaley Hollier and her three children, Seth Hollier, Allison Hollier, Tammy Foreman and her two children, Johnette Bourque-Stelly and her husband Ravis Stelly Jr. and her two children, Miranda Bertrand, and Jesse Viator; seven-step-grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren, and three step-great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John O. Hollier; her second husband, Alvin P. Labry; her parents, Antoine and Elvonne LeBlanc Trahan; a brother, Merlin Trahan; and step-grandson, Justin Viator.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Derek Hollier, Seth Hollier, Jesse Viator, Dylan Foreman, Trevor Guidry, and Landon Toups.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Trae’lyn Hollier and John Ross Hollier.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver, Sundra Trahan, whom she cherished dearly.

Irene Vinet

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted for Mrs. Freddie Vinet, the former Irene Guidry, age 100, at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
A native of Larose, La and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Vinet passed away at 4:57 p.m on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Maison du Monde Nursing Home.
Irene was a very spiritual woman who was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s Altar Society.
She is survived by her daughter in law, Gayla Perrin Vinet of Delcambre; two grandsons, Toby J. Vinet and wife Paula of Delcambre and Brennon P. Vinet and wife Terra of The Woodlands; six great grandchildren, Lacey Desormeaux, Brai Vinet, Kinner Vinet, Kain Vinet, Tinsley Vinet and Kherington Vinet and three great great grandchildren, Kade Desormeaux, Averi Desormeaux and Charli Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Vinet, son, Dale Joseph Vinet; one granddaughter, Shannon Renee Vinet; parents, Dolton and Phoebe Melancon Guidry, one sister, Juanita G. Raymond and three brothers, Calvin Guidry, Warren Guidry and Curlon Guidry.
Pallbearers were Toby Vinet, Brennon Vinet, Kenner Vinet, Kain Vinet, John Hebert and Glenn Raymond .

Aldis Joseph Laviolette Jr.

July 11, 1942 ~ November 23, 2018

ABBEVILLE—A Mass of Christian Burial was be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 26, 2018, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Aldis Joseph Laviolette Jr., 76, who died Friday, November 23, 2018.
He was laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services.
Al was born July, 11, 1942, to Leonice Saltzman and Aldis Laviolette Sr., in Gueydan, LA. He was the youngest of six children. He graduated in 1961 and served in the Louisiana National Guard as a platoon sergeant from 1964 to 1971. Al worked in the oilfield for over 20 years as a salesman. He worked as a car salesman for 25 years and retired at Frenzel Motors in 2017 owned by Jude Pere. Al started a band with friends in 1981 called Big Al and the Fa-Tras. They played for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, festivals, weddings, nursing homes, Ora’s 70th birthday, and Sky High for kids and his granddaughter’s non-profit. They were Governor Edwin Edwards’ band for every function he had. Al also played with family, friends, and the Couley Kenny band.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Ann Mitchell of 38 years; his son, Sean Gardiner and wife Rae; daughters, Rylee and Elayna; one stepdaughter, Angela Mouton Hebert; one granddaughter, Brittany Hebert, and grandson, Mark Hebert; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Lenny Benoit; and a bunch of great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eldrige and Alvis, wife, Ethyl and son, Tony; and stepson, Mark Mouton.
We would like to thank Ora Ann, Heidi, Sammy, and Lovie for the loving help. Love ya’ll, Pop Pop Al.

Mrs. Hunter Keith Luquette

Trahan - Luquette joined in marriage

Miss Taylor Marie Trahan of Kaplan and Mr. Hunter Keith Luquette of Abbeville exchanged vows during a wedding ceremony on Friday, November 16, 2018, at Our lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Kaplan.
Father Matthew Barzare officiated the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Brian and Penny Trahan of Kaplan. Her paternal grandparents are Dexter and Nancy Trahan of Kaplan. Maternal grandparents are the late Jake and Aline Breaux of Gueydan, La.
The groom is the son of Keith and Julianna Luquette of Abbeville. His paternal grandparents are the late Edward and Evelyn Luquette of Abbeville. Maternal grandparents are Lorraine Broussard and the late Harvey Broussard of Forked Island.
Vocalists for the event were Earl Seaux and Murphy Guilbeaux, both of Kaplan.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an organza overlay, A-line shaped gown with three quarter length sleeves which was purchased at Deshotel’s Dress Shop in Eunice. The dress featured an illusion neckline detailed with Swarovski crystals and beading and continued around the back which formed an illusion with the same details as the front. The zipper was embellished with pearls which followed down the cathedral styled train.
Her cathedral length veil was embellished with Swarovski crystals which flowed to the bottom of the veil. She carried a bouquet which consisted of ivory vendela roses with hints of petite red roses and eucalyptus leaves.
Kelsey Trahan, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Matron of honor was Kansas Istre Poche. Bridesmaids included Mia LeBeouf, friend and Ashlyn Trahan, cousin.
The attendants wore a slate colored Morilee floor length style dress. The A-line fit dress had an embroidered and beading bodice with capped sleeves. The open V-back had a zipper closure.
The flower girls were Gracie and Jordie Guidry, daughters of Justin and Claire Guidry of Kaplan. Designed by their paternal grandmother, Edna Guidry, the girls wore ivory dresses with a lace top and chiffon bottom. A matching satin belt wrapped around the dress with a rhinestone brooch. To complete the look, the girls wore ivory ballet slippers with pearl and bracelet earrings.
Hayden Luquette, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Drey Vincent, Etienne Trahan and Austin Guidry, all friends of the groom. The ring bearers were Waylon Trahan, son of Seth and Valerie Trahan of Kaplan and Grady Domingues, son of Philip and Chelsie Domingues of Henry, La.
Ushers were Josh Trahan, Seth Trahan and Josh Breaux.
A reception was held at Black’s in Abbeville immediately following the wedding.
The three tiered round wedding cake was from Gambino’s Bakery in Lafayette. The two tiered groom’s German chocolate cake was baked by Chef Bobby and Dot Catering of Kaplan.
Upon their return from a wedding trip to Great Exuma, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Abbeville.
