Paul Minos Broussard
Paul Minos Broussard, a lifelong resident of Meaux, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2024, after several years of declining health. He was just shy of his 80th birthday. Most of his final year was spent in Mobile, Alabama under his son’s care.
Paul was born on Aug. 24, 1944, in Meaux, Louisiana, to Minos Paul and Ozite Marie Vincent Broussard. He was the youngest of 13 children, some of whom were adults by the time he was born, which made him younger than many of his nieces and nephews. It was common to hear older kids calling “Uncle Paul” on the schoolyard playground. He was a farm boy who enjoyed being outdoors. He graduated from Meaux High School, where he excelled in sports. Shortly after high school, Paul married his rock, Judy Marie Touchet Broussard, and together, they raised four children.
His working years were spent mostly seven-and-seven with oilfield service companies. He survived a worksite accident in the 1970s and eventually retired from Halliburton.
Paul was a talented woodworker and an exceptional gardener who loved growing roses for his bride. He spent many years helping coach multiple youth sports. He was a big fan of the Tigers, Ragin’ Cajuns, and Saints. He and Judy loved the beach, from honeymooning on Dauphin Island, to camping on Galveston Island with the children in their early years, to condos and cruises in their later years. Sand and saltwater brought them great happiness throughout their 55-year marriage.
Paul Minos Broussard was preceded in death by his bride, Judy, his parents, and most of his siblings. He is survived by his children Karl (Sharee) Broussard, Sandra Broussard (Qusay Al Qattan), Karen Broussard (Cindy Artello), his eldest son Randall, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, siblings Doyce Broussard and Dorothy Duhon, and a host of extended family.
A private family service was held in Mobile, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Judy and Paul Broussard to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Mobile, or in memory of Paul M. Broussard to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Expressions of sympathy may be mailed to the Broussard Family at 1611 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36604.
