ABBEVILLE — A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, for Todd Joseph Thomas, 61, who passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2024. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Nicholas DuPre’ officiating the services. Military Honors will be rendered at the Cemetery by U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard.
Todd was a graduate of Abbeville High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After serving his country for twenty years he retired from the U.S. Army. He loved God, his country, family, friends and most of all his grandchildren. He especially loved exploring new places with his beloved wife Dodie who loved him so much she married him twice. After Todd retired from the U.S. Army he went to work offshore for many years.
Todd is survived by his loving wife of thirty six years, Dodie Ann Landry Thomas, sons, Marine Staff Sgt. Ryan J. Thomas and his wife Christin, Retired Army Sgt. Jacob M. Thomas and his wife Isabelle, his grandchildren; Landen Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Nicholette Thomas and Harper Thomas. Todd is also survived by his half-sisters, Paulette Thomas and Donna Thomas; his stepsister, Debbie Hanks; half-brother, Keith Thomas, and his stepbrother, Mike Sonnier. His cousins, Tawnya Breaux, and Ed Stanley. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brenda Marshall Guidry Place and Dallas Thomas; his stepdad and mom, Garland Place and Geraldine Thomas; sister, Ray-Anette Thomas; and his stepbrother, Fat Pat Sonnier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home 209 S. St. Charles St., Abbeville on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of services, with a rosary being prayed at 1:30 PM.
