Elwanda Duhon Demarcay

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Elwanda Demarcay, age 80, who passed Saturday, March 11, 2023. Peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She will be laid to rest at St Paul Cemetery with Father Manny Fernandez officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Darin Demarcay Sr., Brent Demarcay, Darin Demarcay Jr., Ridge LaSalle, Slaton LaSalle, and Brady Abshire. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden LaSalle, and Seth Demarcay.
Ms. Wanda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was selfless in her actions and was always the family caretaker. She was kind and loving. She never met a stranger and loved to talk and visit with people. Her favorite hobby was going to the casino. If you said casino, she was ready to go! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons Darin Demarcay Sr. and wife Jody of Abbeville LA, Brent Demarcay and wife Lynn of Monroe LA, daughter Carmen Demarcay and significant other Slaton; four grandchildren, Brittany Demarcay, Darin James Demarcay Jr., Seth Demarcay and Hayden LaSalle; great grandchild Rhemy Demarcay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Demarcay; sister, Marlene Lanclos; parents Ralph and Bernice Duhon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Monday, March 13, 2023, from 8:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
The family of Ms. Demarcay would like to thank the staff at Abbeville General Hospital. Especially the ICU department which provided phenomenal care and was very compassionate to our family. Also special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana especially Whitney for the smooth transition and getting her back to her home.
