The mayors of the two largest cities in Vermilion Parish attended a Vermilion Parish Policy Jury committee meeting to complain about the way the police jury is picking up trash in their cities.
Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza and Kaplan Mayor Mike Kloesel spoke to the police jury about the garbage pick up. Also in the audience was Erath Mayor Taylor Mencacci.
As a result of their verbal complaints, police jury grab truck drivers, and dumpster truck drivers, who will make less than $15 per hour, will be getting a raise.

Here’s some good news. 
Long-awaited capital outlay funds from the state have finally come through for the City of Abbeville. These are funds that will help cover the cost of four drainage projects in the city.
The total cost of the projects will be $500,000. The city will receive $375,000 from the state, with the city covering the remaining $125,000.
“You can’t say enough about the positive impact this is going to have for so many people,” Councilman Brady Broussard Jr. said during the Council meeting on Aug 6. “This is fantastic for our city.”

Gulf Coast Bank gives back to many local non-profit organizations and schools. “Our employees make it a priority to come together throughout the year to donate, fundraise, and volunteer for many of the causes that make the community we serve a better place,” said Megan Broussard, Gulf Coast Bank Marketing Coordinator.
The most recent internal fundraiser at the Bank benefited Miles Perret Cancer Services, in honor of their event taking place this Saturday, August 17th, The Games of Acadiana, which Gulf Coast Bank will also be volunteering for.
