Midland, Texas police charge Abbeville man with child porn

For the second time in a year, Abbeville native John Aaron Trahan, 39, has been arrested and charged with possession or promotion of child pornography.
This past weekend, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office arrested and booked Trahan on five counts of possession and promotion of child pornography. Each count is a third degree felony and his bond was $150,000 for each charge. His total bond is now $750,000.
Trahan’s address given in his arrest is 214 E. Magnolia, Abbeville. LA.

Louisiana Cattle Festival ‘rebrands’ with new event at Red Barn

On Saturday, June 3, the Louisiana Cattle Festival & Fair Association hosted a new, unique event to kick off the 2023 festival season while staying true to the Association’s core purpose of celebrating the cattle industry.
The annual “Brand the Barn” event highlighted a longstanding tradition for many cattle producers and ranchers, called branding, but with a new twist of permanently burning individual brands into the Louisiana Cattle Festival-owned venue, The Red Barn, in Abbeville.

Harvest Time Church is now called Our Savior’s Church

Harvest Time Church will no longer exist after 44 years on Wildcat Drive in Abbeville. The new name of the church and school is Our Savior’s Church.
The Meridional recently learned that the entire five acres and all the buildings, including the school, were donated to Our Savior’s Church, a regional church in Acadiana.
Our Savior’s Church already has six churches throughout Acadiana, including two in Lafayette, one in Youngsville, Church Point, Broussard and New Iberia.
Pastor Jacob Aranza is the lead pastor at the Abbeville church.

Cook in Vermilion Parish jail arrested

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Narcotic and Municipal Task Force arrested Paige Romero (D.O.B. 9-24-1997), a cook, at the parish jail.
According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, agents received information about the cook bringing in contraband consisting of cigarettes suspected synthetic marijuana and suspected methamphetamine.
The information also implicated an outside vendor delivery person and other civilians.

David Breaux

Delcambre man has a total bond amount of just under $800,000

A Delcambre man was booked into the Vermilion Parish jail after his bond total equals just under $800,000 for crimes he allegedly committed against a 13-year-old.
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested David Breaux of Delcambre. He was charged with 13 crimes resulting in a total bond of $795,000.
Breaux was charged with four counts of first-degree rape. Each first-degree rape charge has a bond of $125,000 and an automatic life imprisonment sentence.
He was also charged with a second-degree rape charge with a $100,000 bond.
