Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office reports overturned tanker

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, at approximately 3:43 a.m., on May 10, patrol deputies were dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle on LA Hwy 14 west of Abbeville, LA.
It was learned that a propane tanker 18-wheeler, belong to Targa Resources, was pulling into the driveway of Cypress Propane when the rear tires missed the driveway causing the tanker to overturn. It was also reported that there was a slight smell of propane, but not to a hazardous level.
The Meaux-Nunez Volunteer Fire Department and Louisiana State Police arrived and assisted with traffic control. LA Hwy. 14 was temporarily shut down for approximately 4 ½ hours from Sydney Gautreaux Road to LA Hwy. 343 while the truck was lifted back onto its tires. Louisiana State Police HazMat also responded to assist, however no evacuation was needed. Acadian Ambulance personnel responded, but the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured during the accident.
