Vermilion Catholic freshman dies while in a pond at a back-to-school party

A 14-year-old male freshman from Vermilion Catholic allegedly drowned in a pond over the weekend at a back-to-school party, just days before classes were scheduled to start.
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office handled the accident and has not released any details.
