‘Achoo the Bee’: Abbeville native to take part in ‘Meet the Author’ event on Saturday

Deana Meaux, an Abbeville native and longtime resident of Zachary, is scheduled to visit her hometown on Saturday.
It’s a visit that is creating plenty of buzz.
Meaux will be at Mula’s Pharmacy at 10 a.m. on Saturday to share her new book, “I just want to be me, Says Achoo the Bee.” For more information, visit www.achoothebee.com.
For Meaux, who attended Mt. Carmel and Vermilion Catholic before graduating from Abbeville High in 1985, it will be an exciting trip.

Katri Brasseaux

God inspires Abbeville author to write 1st book

Vermilion Parish’s Katri Brasseaux wrote a book of short stories and poems titled “God Writes in Short Stories.”
The writer was raised in Henry and currently lives in Abbeville.
The book has 17 short stories and nine poems. Certain stories are true, and other stories are fictional. It was published through Christian Faith Publishing in January of 2022.
“I had a dream to write a book,” said Brasseaux.
She started writing 30 years ago and wrote about personal experiences with God.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Toups of Erath are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming sacramental marriage of their daughter, Miss Raleigh Camille Toups, to Mr. Kutter Jude Berard of Breaux Bridge. Kutter is the son of Ms. Tracey Calais Berard and the late Mr. Kenneth “Pete” Berard of Breaux Bridge. The nuptial wedding Mass will take place on Friday, May 6, 2022, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana.

Aubrey Vincent

Rene Rost’s Aubrey Vincent earns Parish Elementary Student of the Year honor

Fifth-grader Aubrey Vincent was chosen as the Vermilion Parish Elementary Student of the Year at Rene Rost Middle School.
Aubrey is in the theatre club and 4-H. She did a play called “Deck the Halls with Poison Ivy during the Christmas season.” Her hobbies are cooking, dancing, painting, sewing, arts and crafts, and gymnastics. Her favorite subject in school is math, and her favorite teacher is Janie Turnley.
“I made a purple shirt and pants, and I put it in the 4-H clothing competition,” said Aubrey.

Ty Hebert

Kaplan’s Hebert has worked hard to win parish student of the year

Eighteen year old Ty Hebert of Kaplan High was chosen to be the Vermilion Parish Student of the Year.
The son of James and Charlsie Hebert, he is the youngest with two older sisters. His GPA is a 4.0 and hobbies include 4-H, Beta, cross country and track and field. These hobbies helped him achieve being Student of the Year.
“I was excited. I put in a lot of work throughout high school and before high school while seeking out leadership positions, doing all my extracurriculars and trying to excel as much as I could in high school, it’s good feeling,” said Hebert.
