Celebrating Louisiana Arbor Day in Abbeville

From backyards to tropical rain forests, trees around the world provide life’s necessities. Trees clean our air and filter water, provide habitat for wildlife, connect communities, and support our health and well-being.
Abbeville Garden Club and Keep Abbeville Beautiful are working together, planting trees throughout our community to provide a safer local environment. Selecting the right location, locally sourcing native trees and using proper planting methods is key to successful planting.

Colleen Erin Maeve O’Connor and Will Rand Sampson United in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

A holiday wedding, on December 10th, 2022, in Fort Collins, Co., united Colleen Erin Maeve O’Connor and Will Rand Sampson in Holy Matrimony. The ceremony took place in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Simon Kalonga officiating.
Colleen is the daughter of Karen Ann O’Connor of Denver, Co and the granddaughter of Lynn Gooch and the late Coach William “Bill” Gooch, Jr. of Abbeville, La.
Will is the son of Dave and Tracey Sampson of Fort Collins, Co.

Abbeville General welcomes first baby of 2023

It did not take long for the first baby from Vermilion Parish to be born in 2023.
Akyrie Chargois of Abbeville welcomed her beautiful daughter, A’Driyahn Elizabeth Monroe Chargois, on Monday, January 2, at 4:11 p.m. at Abbeville General.
It was Abbeville General’s first baby delivered in 2023.
A’Driyahn weighed in at 7 pounds and 1 ounce. She measured 19.5 inches long.
Mula Family Pharmacy and Gifts in Abbeville donated a diaper bag filled with the perfect goodies to help Akyrie get started with her journey as A’Driyahn’s mother.

Lauren-Grace Lege and Jase Paul Breaux United in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

On the evening of December 17th, during a candlelit ceremony, Lauren-Grace Lege and Jase Paul Breaux were united in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. Father Louis Richard, pastor of St. Mary Magdalen, presided at the nuptial ceremony.
