Erath Aldermen hire bill collector to collect unpaid utility bills; change in camper ordinance
ERATH — The town of Erath is getting serious with collecting outstanding debt owed to them by residents.
The aldermen approved the hiring of a collection company to try and recoup money owed to the town by residents who did not pay their water bill, electric bill or sewer bill.
The Louisiana Municipality Association (LMA) will charge the resident an additional 25 percent of the money the resident owes the town. If the resident owes the town $100 for a late bill and it is contacted by LMA asking for payment, the resident will now have to pay $125.
