Joseph Robert Romero Sr.

September 13, 1926 - July 3, 2022

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Robert Romero Sr., 95, who died Sunday, July 3, 2022 at East Ridge Nursing and Rehab. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Msgr. Joseph Robert Romero officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Romero, Mason Romero, Scott Romero, Matthew Romero, William Romero and Anthony Desormeaux.
He is survived by his sons, Msgr. Joseph Robert Romero, Jr. of New Iberia, Kenneth Wayne Romero of Lafayette, Michael Romero of Pensacola, FL, Brent Timothy Romero and wife Dena of Kaplan and Mason Romero and wife Liz of Abbeville; daughter, Bonnie Mabou and husband, Ray of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Chrystal Romero, Scott Romero, Abbi Cameron, Michelle Garrett and husband, Damion, Matthew Romero, Olivia Romero and William Romero; three step grandchildren, Lisa Hughes, Rachel  Abshire and Tiffany Luquette;  eight great grandchildren, Anthony Desormeaux, Renae Desormeaux, Elizabeth Romero, Reese Cameron, Peyton Cameron, Eli Cameron, Jeanne Garrett and Sebastion Garrett; three step great grandchildren, Alexis Hughes, Zander Cade Abshire, and Addison Marie Abshire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Gaspard Romero; parents, Felicien Romero and the former Julia Benoit; brothers, Eugene Romero, Daniel Romero and Joseph Edgar Romero; and sisters, Eunice Romero, Lizzie Trahan, Needless Gisclair, Isabell Gaspard and Florence Romero.
Mr. Romero’s family would like to offer a special thank you to Eastridge Nursing Home and Traditions hospice for the care and compassion given to Joseph in his time of need.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M.; Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until the precession will depart for the church at 9:45 A.M.
