Teens arrested for possible vehicle burglaries in Vermilion Parish

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, in the early morning hours on Monday, patrol deputies responded to a complaint of a vehicle burglary in progress in a subdivision near the Abbeville Airport.
The investigation led deputies, VPSO K9, Criminal Investigations Division and Narcotics investigators to a nearby motel where numerous juveniles and two adults were detained.
During initial interviews, it was determined that two of the three juveniles were the suspects in the attempted burglary.

For years, the house that Rita Jordan was murdered in sat empty on Martin Luther King Drive. Today, 11 years after she was murdered, her house looks lived in based on the vehicles parked in the driveway. The house is located behind Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church.

Arrest made for Rita Jordan’s murder

It took 11 years for someone to be arrested for the murder of Rita Jordan of Abbeville.
This past Wednesday, the U.S. Marshal’s Office arrested Ledario Green on outstanding Abbeville felony warrants and booked him into the Harris County Jail in Houston.
Green, 38, was arrested on warrants for aggravated kidnapping ($100,000 Bond), home invasion ($50,000 Bond), and extortion ($50,000 Bond) totaling $200,000.
On Thursday, Green waived extradition, and he was picked up and transported from Harris County Jail to Abbeville by Abbeville City Police Officers.

Vermilion Catholic senior transported to Dallas hospital

Two weeks after being involved in a two-vehicle accident, a Vermilion Catholic female student has been moved to a hospital in Dallas to further her care.
According to “Kallen’s Journey” Facebook page, it states that Kallen LeBlanc, 17, was transported to the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Baylor’s trauma surgeon and the ECMO team flew to Lafayette on Monday with their equipment and connected Kallen to the ECMO machine and then transported her to Dallas.

Gulf Coast Bank has donated $500 to stock the SLCC Gulf Area Campus Food Pantry in Abbeville.
Gulf Coast Bank has partnered with SLCC since 2013 in a number of ways and was recognized in 2020 as the SLCC’s Benefactor of the Year for its widespread impact throughout the Vermilion Parish and Acadiana communities.
The bank has offered time and expertise through its President and CEO, Paul Patout, serving as a key voice on the SLCC Foundation board in its early years of development.
