Sheriff’s Office provides update on shooting in north Vermilion area
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, at approximately 1:09 p.m., patrol deputies were dispatched to a shooting on La. Hwy. 92 near Roy Foreman Road.
Upon arrival of patrol deputies, detectives and narcotic agents, deputies found two male subjects, both of whom suffered gunshot wounds. Both subjects were immediately transported to Lafayette hospitals by Acadian Ambulance and underwent surgery for serious gunshot wounds. Deputies closed off a portion of La. Hwy. 92 for a short period of time as standard public safety protocol. The shooting incident was over before the arrival of the deputies, posing no further threat to the public. The initial investigation suggested that the incident appeared to be limited to an altercation between two or more people at the residence.
A full investigation into the incident shall resume as soon as one or both persons involved in the shootings are out of surgery. The investigation is ongoing and may lead to charges and arrests.
